Mykola Tomenko: 2010 is the Year for the Promotion of the Ukrainian Castles, Fortresses and Castles Preservation

 

Today in the informational agency "UNIAN" Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, initiator and Chairman of the Organisational Committee of the Action "7 Wonders of Ukraine" presented the third stage of the popular action "7 Wonders of Ukraine" "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces."

 

Presenting the new project, Mykola Tomenko declared that the action "7 Tourist Routes" that commenced last year is still in action now. "The materials we have for the present moment proves that we still are only on the beginning stage of the formation of such economic-grounded and organizationally-proved routes that may be competitive even with the European tourist routes", he announced.

 

The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine briefed that the Organisational Committee adopted the decision the action on tourist routes defining is to be conducted together with the new project and would be scrutinized as several-years-one.

 

"2010 we announced a year of the castles, fortresses and palaces", - M. Tomenko emphasised. The decision the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed by the fact that "despite all the attention to these objects, we unfortunately loss them (irrespective of the natural processes, destruction, lese and privatization)." According to the words of the project initiator the aim of the action is an ‘inventory´ of all the castles, fortresses and palaces in Ukraine.

 

Speaking on the scheme of the action conduction, M. Tomenko explained that it would be held in three stages.

In the conference took part: members of the Organisational Committee of the action: Yurii Artemenko, the Chairman of the Public Council under the Derzhkomteleradio and Oleksandr Kharchenko, editor-in-chief of "UNIAN" informational agency.
